We Are Only Human

Gold Finger Stalls, Dynasty 18, (reign of Thutmose III )ca. 1479-1425 B.C. From the tomb of the three minor wives of Thutmose III in the Wady Gabbabat el-Qurud, Thebes. Gold finger and toe stalls were found on the hands and feet of Tutankhamun's mummy and were standard elements of a royla burial.

I came across these gold ginger tips while I was wandering around the Egyptian area of the Metropolitan Museum in New York City and I was thinking about the design of 3D printed finger prostheses in metal for a new client. We are only human and, as a designer, I feel I was stretching back over centuries and having a conversation with the maker of these beautiful objects . Beauty is timeless.
